Hugh Catchpole Inter-School English Debate21-Sep-2022

A team of three students (Divya Kanodia, Rushoti Mukherjee and Siya Chadha of Grade XI) from Unison World School; participated in Hugh Catchpole Inter-School English Debate from 21 September to 24 September 2022 at RIMC, Dehradun. They competed against participants from 20 reputed schools across India. The aim of the competition was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be original and articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions. The speakers of classes IX-XII from well-known schools of the country spoke eloquently on the motions provided. The debate was conducted in the Modified Cambridge format, Oxford format and RIMC customized format.    The highlight of the event was the rebuttal round, as a volley of questions was answered confidently by both sides, inviting counter questions which were aptly answered by witty and vivacious speakers. The session was a kaleidoscope of opinions, thoughts, ideas, and perspectives that enhanced the knowledge and understanding of the topic among students.
