Spic Macay State Convention22-Aug-2024

Unison World School hosted a three-day Spic Macay State Convention, beginning on August 22, 2024, which drew over two thousand participants from across Dehradun. Mr. R.M.Tiwari, the National Chairman of Spic Macay, spoke in his address about the philosophy and mission of Spic Macay, recounting how Dr. Seth, a distinguished professor, recognized the disconnect between the youth and India's cultural roots and initiated this movement to bring Indian culture to the forefront for young people. In the first session of the program, the artists of Naya Theater presented the play 'Raj-Rakta' which showcased the conflict between religion and power. The play was applauded greatly by the audience. In the second session, the event was officially inaugurated by Dr. Ashish Kumar Srivastava, an I.A.S. officer, who has served as Additional Secretary to Hon’ble CM of Uttarakhand and Vice Chairman of Mussorrie Dehradun Development Authority. The ceremony saw Principal Dr. Mona Khanna, Chief Guest Dr. Ashish Kumar Srivastava, Spic Macay President Dr. R.M. Tiwari, and other dignitaries following Indian cultural tradition by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the audience, Principal Dr. Mona congratulated all the members of Spic Macay, dignitaries, teachers, artists, and students for their participation in the third state-level convention held at the Unison campus. She encouraged all the students to use this opportunity to learn and grow, allowing these experiences to inspire and guide their future endeavors. A highlight of the event was the spellbinding performance by Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. His rendition of various ragas left the audience in awe. Additionally, Carnatic singer Ms. Vidushi Sudha Raghunathan graced the occasion with her soulful classical singing. The convention also featured numerous renowned Gurus, who conducted workshops in various arts, including Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Odissi dance, Tabla, Sitar, Kangra painting, Hindustani and Carnatic singing, and theatre, providing students with a rich cultural experience.
